There are different birds at different levels – Fulmars are nesting nearest to the top of the cliffs, Kittiwakes nest at the next level down in messy nests. Guillemots and Razorbills nest on the bare stone ledges a little lower down again. Shags can often be seen on the flat platform at the bottom of the stack. HINT look for the white coloured parts of the cliffs – that’s where you will find the birds. The white colour is from their droppings!
They nest in burrows on grassy slopes, just like rabbits.
Puffins arrive at the Cliffs at the end of March and stay till mid- July. The best months to see them are May and June.
