First visit to County Clare - 2 night stay
Here we suggest how you could spend your first 48 hour stay in County Clare - you could easily spend much longer in our beautiful county!
Day 1(1/2 day evening):
Arrive into
Shannon International Airport by plane. Transfer to hotel in to the County town of
Ennis. After check in take some time to enjoy the sights and sounds of one of Ireland's most vibrant towns. Before enjoying a delicious meal in one of the fine restaurants and then top the evening of by sampling the nightlife and traditional Irish music sessions in any one of Ennis' dozens of bars.
Day 2:
After Breakfast head to North Clare in the direction of the Cliffs of Moher. Give at least 2.5 hours for your stay at the Cliffs.
After visiting the Cliffs make for
the Burren - an extraordinary karstic plateau covering much of North Clare. Visits to the
Burren Centre in Kilfenora or the
Aillwee Cave near Ballyvaughan could also be included although many attractions exist throughout the area. Lunch can be had in any one of a selection of excellent bars and restaurants in the area.
As evening arrives visit
Doolin village, the heart of traditional Irish music. In Doolin you can enjoy a 'Trad session' over your evening meal & a convivial few drinks before retired to one of a selection of excellent hotels and B&B's.
Day 3:
After breakfast check out the amazing
Doolin Cave home to a wondrous geological phenomenon - the Great Stalactite. Then head for East Clare and the mediaeval town of Killaloe. Visit the
Brian Boru Centre, go boating on the River Shannon or enjoy a days water sports on Lough Derg. The scenic beauty of the area makes for excellent walks, fishing trips, short cruises on the river or sample the local bars and restaurants.
Don't forget to return to Shannon Airport for your flight!
All in all you will only be just back home when you'll want to start planning your next visit to the
Banner county.
